Pietro Nolita

A few weekends ago, my friend and fashion designer Tasch  and I headed to Nolita to check out one of the pinkest spots in NYC. That's right, we went to Pietro.

Pietro doesn't take reservations and only holds about 15-20 people so we decided to do an early Saturday night dinner. We arrived at 5:30 PM, when they start evening service, I ordered the Violetta cocktail which featured house-infused lavender vodka.

At around 6:45 PM we sat at our table and ordered another cocktail. We ordered the Carta Da Musica Fusa as an appetizer and it was delish. So much cheese!

For my entree I ordered the Farfalle Al Funghi with whole wheat pasta. Holy goodness! Everything was just perfect. The mushrooms, pasta, cheese.

We wished we had room for dessert but when the waitress came to ask we had to say know. We were stuffed!

Pietro also has a brunch menu that I'd love to try down the line. I think it might be a whole day ordeal trying to go in the middle of the day.

If you find yourself in Nolita, I very much recommend checking out Pietro!

PR Diaries: A Day in the Life of Yiman

Happy Friday! Another week of hustling down, more than we can count to go. In this weeks edition of our intern diaries, Yiman is talking about our day working from Joe & The Juice.
------

It is a cold, windy morning. The temperature goes down again after several warm lovely days. Today I am meeting Lynette at Joe & The Juice, a healthy juice bar in SoHo New York, our temporary office for the day. Sitting near an outlet, we start our work.
As usual, I begin with making a to-do-list before diving into work for the day. Lynette helped me rearrange the order of things to do. Since everything is important, we start with the easiest stuffs first, like clipping, adding updates to memos and spreadsheets. Following her instructions, I start by updating our gift bags sponsor spreadsheet for our Leukemia and Lymphoma Society event at Yo Yoga! next Saturday.
Around 12, Lynette leaves to meet our newest client, Allongee,  to discuss the upcoming campaign.

While she’s gone, the most regular part of my day comes: making spreadsheets.
Usually, I help with making spreadsheets of different media outlets according to what event we are holding, or what topic we are pitching. For today, I am making a list of media covering topics of health and medical tech. I type “medical healthcare tech media outlet” in Google and it turns out many results. From there, I need to select the best fit for our client, including best editors. I have to look at each website to confirm there is section my client fits into. And a key tip here: before adding this media outlet to your list, it is of great importance and necessary to check whether or not it has already posted articles about the client. I make a list of around 10 and Lynette checks and select from my list who to pitch. After the medical tech list, I continue making a list of raffle items for a karaoke event.
At 5 PM, we stop working and go back home. This is a regular day of my internship with Lynette, a patient boss willing to share and teach.

Cheers to a relaxing weekend! I'm headed to my cousins bridal shower on Long Island this weekend and taking my mom to brunch in Queens.

Look out for a review of something very pink on Monday!

PR Intern Diaries: Yiman

Happy Friday! It's intern diaries day so check out what Yiman learned this week!
-----------

When working in the PR industry, one small but crucial point you need to keep in mind is paying attention to the breaking news. This is what I learned about PR this week. Basically, PR tasks require people to communicate a lot with the media including newspapers, magazines, websites, forums, blogs and on social media. When something big happens, usually it is not an appropriate time to pitch editors. Picture the scene: editors and reporters are having a planning meeting on breaking news. At this time they would not care about what we are pitching. For example, when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce was announced, we didn’t pitch entertainment editors.

On Wednesday, I went to yoga with Lynette near the office. It was so much fun! I am getting to know the importance of having a wellness day in the middle of the week. The excitement starts from Tuesday and maintains until the end of Wednesday. After a wellness break, my body felt refreshed and my mind was better focused on work. Even more, every time my boss and I do something together like friends for a break, I get the opportunity to learn about her and feel more close.

Working in PR really brings me a lot of interesting experiences. I help with research and creating a lot of spreadsheets. This week I was working on a fundraiser and had to look up places to send couples on dates, search for raffle items, make a list of high-end restaurants, and even seek contacts information for NYC bachelors.

---------

We hope everyone has a great weekend! I'm headed to Boston to watch the marathon on Monday. Check out our Instagram stories (@Lynette_Nicole) to stay on top of my adventures!

Xo Group FoundHERs - BaubleBar

A few weeks, I got to spend the evening with Anna and Darcy at the XO Group's offices in the Financial District for one of their FoundHERS speaking series.

We got to hear from Amy Jain and Daniella Yacobovsky, the founders of BaubleBar, about their journey from finance to jewelry. What I liked most about their story was how relatable it was.

Starting a business is no easy feat and in the beginning, it comes with more downs than ups.

Amy and Daniella both had lucrative, secure jobs that they left to work on BaubleBar full-time. They had a pseudo office (an apartment) and were learning as they went. They talked about their first website, taking unflattering images with iPhones, learning what different people in the fashion industry did and when they first realized they were leading this amazing business.

One of my biggest takeaways from the talk was to just keep going. PR can be a frustrating field to be in but at the end of the day, I started my own business so I obviously love it. Like Amy and Daniella, I am still learning as I go and am fortunate enough to have an amazing mentor (who is also one of my good friends and former bosses).

Cheers to girl bosses and moving forward!

Ps. I cant wait for you to meet Lynette Nicole PR's two new clients in the coming weeks!

PR Intern Diaries: Yiman

In an effort to combine all aspects of my life and create more lifestyle content vs just running, I'm incorporating something that is my whole life- my business. Lynette Nicole PR was born mid-August 2016 and am so proud to say we are growing daily. We brought on our first intern who will be talking PR and wellness every Friday through the first week of May!

So, without further ado, meet Yiman.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am Yiman, a second year graduate student at NYU majoring in Media Culture and Communication. Being very interested in PR industry as well as media strategies, I interviewed Lynette and started my internship with her. Being a PR intern with Lynette is probably one the best things that has happened to me during my last semester of school. I’m getting a first hand look at how PR works in brand building and business development and great understanding of consumer lifestyle businesses.

If I can only name one thing I learned about PR this week, I would say it is the importance of making a to-do-list. Each time I get to the office, Lynette tells me to go through all the emails I received and make a to-do-list on my own. Then I email it to her, get feedback and start my work. Instead of throwing a list to me, Lynette is intentionally training me on independent thinking. Gradually, I figure out a sequence of tasks that follows an easy to hard track, which is really reasonable to start in the morning when you have scores of work on hand. At the end of the day, I update this list and she understands what things I have done and what still needs to be completed. By updating, it shows Lynette the challenges I met and things I am not clear about. For clients, she sends out a comprehensive memo every two weeks to let them know how their campaign is going, in addition to speaking with them during the week.

Lynette is pretty serious about work-life balance. Every Wednesday, we do something healthy as a team; salads for lunch, a smoothie break, or a yoga/Pilates class. Watching Lynette pursue a balance between work and life by keeping a regular schedule and eating healthy has subtly influenced my mindset to make minor changes to stay healthy. I was not used to eating salad as a meal, however after several attempts, I am getting used to it.

Since my last internship in Hill+Knowlton Strategies was corporate PR, I don’t have much experience in events. Thus I hope to assist in more activities and gain experience and insights on event preparation. I am getting my first opportunity to help during our clients Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser on April 29. I am looking forward to it!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
