Apparently it's already only 12 weeks until the Staten Island Half Marathon. Time is flying! This training cycle I am definitely going to be paying attention to what my body is saying, especially my knee. I've looked up a few training plans and will be adapting them to what I feel will be effective- most likely less runs and more cross training like boxing, Pilates and spin.
Here's what I did this week:
Monday: Boxing at Overthrow NYC
Wednesday: Levo League Networkout with Miss Motivational
Friday: Spin at Peloton
Saturday: Pilates at TONE
Sunday: 3 mile run
The only thing I feared this week was my run. Fortunately it went as good as it could. I haven't really ran since the Queens 10K and haven't turned my Garmin on since February. I had my knee wrapped in an ace bandage for added support and got to use my new Sol Republic headphones.
I use the RELAYS SPORT with a patented FreeFlex™ technology that makes sure the fit is secure so they don't move during my run.
While it wasn't a fast run, I did negative split (although I took some breathers at some red lights) and realized I'm not as out of shape as I anticipated. While that sub-2 is still on my mind, I'm more about redeeming myself from this horrible spring season. I'll be continuing my Fitreserve membership throughout the rest of the training season to ensure I'm healthy and prepared.
Next week includes some boxing at Overthrow, Pilates at Uptown Pilates and a fun workout for the New Balance Girls Night Out. On Saturday I'll be a Women's Health event in Montauk so hopefully I'll get a nice 4-milers in when I get back on Sunday.
What are you training for? How's it going?

Stress-Free Summer
Summer is supposed to be carefree, No stress, drinks on the roof, outdoor yoga, etc. But sometimes, stress happens. Working in PR, it's hard to secure placements when many editors take vacations during the warmer months. Other times it's having too much to do. Others it's not having enough. But, whatever is causing your summer to be anything less than amazing can be fixed! I think there are 2 ways.
First, take a vacation! I don't think I've gone away in the past 4 years as I have in the past few months. From Conn., to upstate New York to my share house in the Hamptons, getting away from the city helps me stay sane and focused on all of the things I have been working on.
Whether it's a weekend with friends or strangers, there was non-stop laughing and fun which is exactly how it should be.
If you can't go on a weekend getaway, consider coloring. Yes, I know this blog is for adults. The American Lung Association recommends coloring as one of 52 stress reducers. I received a few copies and I have to say, it's quite relaxing. The Mandala Coloring Book, The Art of Nature Coloring Book, Stress Less Coloring: Mosaic Patterns, and Stress Less Coloring: Paisley Patterns, are all great options.

The intricate patterns make for great custom artwork for your apartment.
Even though summer is halfway over, it's not too late to book a last minute house or grab some colored pencils!

I'm Back!
Hey friends, it's been awhile! Life got busy and fun and I can't wait to tell you about it. I'm going to try to keep this post as short as possible but I'm trying to fit in a month and a half of content!
Obviously a Brookyn Half recap is out of the question so here's what you need to know. I didn't shit my pants, 2 bathroom stops, 2 med tent stops, a slow pace and an emotional finish. Lesson learned here? Don't go out the night before a race and eat/drink everything that you're not supposed to.

The next weekend was vacation! Cocoa might not be your typical vaca spot but it's mine and I have a house so who cares. All I talked about for so long was gong paddle boarding and it was a massive fail. I was not made for SUP in the ocean! Most of my extended weekend was spent eating and drinking with my sister and dad. We did go zip lining through a zoo and spend many hours at the beach. I'm really happy I finally went down.

Next up was the Queens 10K. I received a wonderful rain coat from Champion (one of my favorite fitness brands and another post to come!) that I planned on wearing that day because it was supposed to pour. After a eventful commute (are the 7 trains EVER working properly?) and a mile run to the start I ended up having a nice race. I wore the rain coat then had to take it off due to humidity. So I had to be brave and run in just my sports bra. Nothing like a little motivation to get in shape! Afterwards it as brunch with The Rosales'. I went to Summer Solstice Yoga in Times Square that evening before grabbing dinner with Kendra and there is where I found the rain. We got drenched but it was fun anyway!
A few weeks ago Anna, Mallory and I had a girls weekend in Mystic, CT. I am in LOVE with that little town! It reminds me a bit of Montauk but smaller and cozier. We noshed on tons of seafood, saw lots of sights, got some homemade ice cream and had a little photoshoot.
For the 4th of July, Jane and I headed to her parents house in Poughkeepsie. We walked on the walkway above the Hudson river, went to New Paltz and had the BEST tacos ever, ate tons of BBQ, saw some fireworks, baked some muffins and had an overall great weekend away from the city.
Woo hoo! Congrats on reading all of that boring crap. Now that you're caught up, here's what's next.
- More information on that bangin' Champion jacket.
- Adult coloring books for stress relief
- The Nutrition By Lynette launch (in the meantime check out the below event)
Can't wait for the rest of the summer and to start training for Redemption Island (the Staten Island Half)!
