It's All About The Hot Dogs

The theme of all of my spring races has been undertrained and unprepared so why should Brooklyn be any different? I haven't been to the PT recently because they kept screwing up my appointments but I have been making an effort to do the exercises they gave to me and use the resistance band more. I'm skipping my sisters college graduation for this race so I'm going to put as much effort as I can into the race to justify this. It's my first time running the Brooklyn Half and I've heard great things so I hope it doesn't let me down!

Since I'm still technically injured, I am again not running with my watch. So it's going to be a fun run which leads me to the title of the post- I CAN'T WAIT FOR HOT DOGS! I don't really eat hot dogs and when I became a nutritionist I learned even more things that turned me off from them but I mean it's Brooklyn and there's Nathan's so that's the motivation to get it done.

Overall, I think I have a shot at doing OK. Thanks to FitReserve, I've been able to get some sprints done at Mile High Run Club, spin at Peloton and do yoga at Clay and Exhale. I will again try to KT Tape my knee (which failed a few weeks ago) or use my band. My friend Jane will be running too and we have plans to eat hot dogs and drink beer afterwards (obviously the most important part of the day). Afterwards, pending rain, I get to get more food with Anna and Mallory so all in all, the goal is to finish for the food!

Can't wait to share the recap. Enjoy the rest of the week!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Wow where did the year go? I feel like it was just yesterday I was writing about turning 25. Crazy how time flies. This weekend I celebrated with almost all of my best friends. Christine came out to visit on Friday night and on Saturday I had a dinner at Cascabel then we headed out to some of the bars on the UES. I really can't ask for a better group of girlfriends and am so proud to call them all friends!

I always like to think of my birthday as the unofficial start of a new year. Being surrounded by so much laughter and love this weekend has me pretty convinced that 26 is going to be awesome. With the launch of Nutrition By Lynette in June, wedding festivities for Christine, so many summer plans with the girls, I can't wait!

As with my other birthday posts, I'm ready to reflect on the past year. And what a whirlwind it was. Here's what I did:

Kicked off the summer with my sister in Montauk

Went to Belmont for the first time

Spend the 4th of July drinking homemade sangria and watching fireworks over the Brooklyn Bridge

Went to fun blogger events

Went apple picking

Finally got to see Heather and Meg at the same time for the first time in years

Got really close to my half marathon PR at Staten Island

Made my first homemade Halloween costume

Saw Luke Bryan at MSG

Cooked Thanksgiving dinner for the girls

Went to the Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time

Volunteered at the NYC Marathon in the med tent

Stayed out partying in NYC for New Year's Eve

Got 2 placements in the WSJ

Finally went paddeboarding

Met some celebs

Ran around Central Park in the snow

Did yoga in Bloomingdales

Went to Ikea for the first time

Became a certified nutritionist

Made new running friends

Rode a bike for the first time in 3 years and 10 months

26, don't let me down!
