RUN10FEED10 2014

It's almost that time again- to run 6.2 miles up and down the West Side Highway to give at least 10 meals to a family in the US. To kick it all off, Women's Health threw a party at the Bridgehampton Surf and Tennis Club. As a runner and Hampton's lover, how do you say no? Easy. You don't.

So after a whirlwind of a week (Momma Dickson you will be missed) I got my butt in the car and drove to the the private beach in Bridghampton. I was greeted by a few of the PR girls I talk to from the magazine and they told me how much they like my blog (I bet they say that to everyone :p). We chatted for a bit then I let them get back to work.

What was this for again? The FEED Foundation.  The Feed Foundation was started by Lauren Bush Lauren in 2005 for those in need in other countries. Since founding the organization she had expanded her reach to the US. Today there are over 50 million American's who are unsure of where their next meal is coming from.

For the past 2 years, she has hosted RUN10FEED10 in several major cities along with virtual runs. To participate you need to register then raise a minimum $100. That feeds 10 families in your hometown.

Throughout the kickoff for the third RUN10FEED10 race, you could find a station with FEED merchandise, a silent auction (which had amazing things- if I wasn't moving this month I would have placed a bid on a few of the workout packages), a Ben & Jerry's popup, a temporary tattoo and hair station, a bonfire (complete with s'mores), tons of wine and snacks and a rockin DJ.

I had the pleasure of being able to grab a picture and chat with Lauren Bush Lauren and Taryn Manning. Lauren got a chance to speak in the middle of the party and play a little highlight reel of the past 2 years. Unfortunately I didn't make it in (haha jk, I would have been mortified).

In all seriousness, hunger is a big problem in the US and some really don't know when they are going to get their next meal. They are no rungry and know when they finish the race it's all burgers and beers. They might not eat for another week.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up and start fundraising. Make a difference in someone's life. It could be you one day.
