Meet Dr. Steven Wang

One of my best friends Anna gets eaten alive by mosquitos during the summer and tries to do everything to keep them away- even wearing heavy backwoods bug spray to bed.

Dr. Steven Wang purposely went out into the wilderness without bug spray and offered his body as a buffet to mosquitoes.

Why would someone do that? To test the effectiveness of his first product in the Dr. Wang Herbals Skincare collection- Eczema Ointment.

Last week I had the pleasure of attending an intimate breakfast at Good Housekeeping to celebrate Dr. Wang's Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval and partnership with HSN.

Dr. Wang is a board-certified dermatologist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Basking Ridge, NJ. He has published over 85 peer-reviewed scientific medicals articles (I've been writing this blog post since the day of the event so I'd say that is quite impressive), and has an active clinical research program focused in photoprotection, antioxidants, nanotechnology and skin health.

One thing many might not realize about me is that I am a science nerd. Before I majored in PR/advertising, I was a bio education major and nutrition. While I might not have pursuing a career in those fields, I am still obsessed so coming to this breakfast was a no brainer.

After spending time researching Chinese herbs and their connection to treating psoriasis and eczema, Dr. Wang was able to translate eastern medicine to western, and found that those herbs have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. He published a paper with his findings and thought he would wipe his hands clean and move onto a new topic.

No such luck! His patients read his research and wanted to buy these magic herbs that would help them. So in January 2016, he put up a website and began providing the eczema ointment to patients. And they were thrilled to find relief!

The ointment contains 8 proprietary blends that combined, rebuild barriers on skin, reduce inflammation, and stops itch. The purple hue is great for kids as the color disappears once it hits the skin.

Dr. Wang estimates that at least 30 million Americans suffer from eczema.

I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for the collection!
